Game design

Gameplay is the core of a game it determines whether you will love the game or just truly hate it. Different genres have different gameplay styles for an example FPS’s should be in first person and should involve lots of guns and blood, RPG’s should consist of a long and enjoyable story with party based fighting and other elements such as weapon and armour customisation and abilities like magic.
To really get the design of a game going you need a solid design team who know there stuff and to back the a good group of concept designers, programmers, animators and so on. The leading lights for me are the concept artist because they show visually what the game is all about and the feel of the game basically reinforcing the designers initial thoughts of what the game should be.
The design stage is early in the games process of development and can depending on the game go right through to the end of development. The responsibility is on all the teams shoulders and not one persons.
Things that are important to me are a good griping story that keeps me wanting to play, fun gameplay with fun little things.
